Finally got a chance to try La Perla for dinner. It definitely did not disappoint.
We started with the figs with goat cheese (which I highly recommend) along with the octopus.
Both were cooked to perfection. After, we ordered the duck carnitas and whole fish.
Both dishes were also perfection and the flavors were far above and beyond
what you would find in a small coastal town.
I would expect such cuisine in New York, but La Perla exceeded any Spanish dishes I have
ever eaten. Definitely plan to visit for dinner the next time you are in Beaufort.
Every dish was flawless - full of flavor, perfectly paired together to create a delightful dining experience.
The staff was friendly and attentive, the atmosphere was fun, unique, but not obtrusive.
The cochinita pibil was perfectly laced with melting fat to make it a mouth-watering offering of pork,
and the fried plantains that came with it were crystal gems bursting with flavor - crispy and salty
on the outside, with melt-in-your-mouth banana sweetness on the inside.
The tilefish special was perfectly cooked and paired with an excellent avocado pineapple salsa
that complimented the sweetness of that fish.
We've been to Husk in Charleston, and this joined that lovely establishment as one
of our top 5 restaurants we've been to.

Visited La Perla at the recommendation of a close, food-obsessed friend.
We were so impressed by the level of cooking, the smart flavor profiles, the warm service—
and it's a welcome step-up from the area's grills and chain restaurants.
La Perla is run by a couple—Jessica and Kevin—who work at the restaurant every day it's open.
Their presence and dedication makes all the difference—and it made our dining experience special.
We felt like we were being welcomed to a friend's house for dinner. We talked about that
dinner every day for the next week...and we're excited about our next visit.
The fried shishito peppers, wings, pork belly-arugula salad, local dayboat grouper, ceviche, octopus,
creme brûlée, and almond cake—all fantastic!
